Frog Song

A cacophony
rises at sunset
from moist pockets
within the dark hearts
of lush agrapanthus.

Tiny green romeos creep
beyond secrecy's underside
along bending foliage,
warble full moon arias
to leafy balconies filled
with invisible lovers.

Candytuft and alyssum
harbor bass soloists
and troubadour baritones
safely hidden beneath
their white blossoms.

All night we burrow
languidly into sensuous dreams
of our own
serenaded by frog song.
